ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
Adjectives describe nouns (people, places, things).
Example:

a large tree (describes “tree”)

an open door (describes “door”)
Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They tell how, when, where, or how often something happens.
Example:
-
She speaks slowly. (describes how she speaks)
-
They worked rapidly. (describes how they worked)
Many adverbs are formed by adding -ly to an adjective:

soft → softly
-
careful → carefully
-
easy → easily
Some words are the same in both adjective and adverb form (no change in spelling): fast, hard, late, low
Example:

He is a hard worker. (adjective)

He works hard. (adverb)
