Lesson #25- (ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS)

ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS

Adjectives describe nouns (people, places, things).
Example:

  • a large tree (describes “tree”)

  • an open door (describes “door”)

Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They tell how, when, where, or how often something happens.
Example:

  • She speaks slowly. (describes how she speaks)

  • They worked rapidly. (describes how they worked)

Many adverbs are formed by adding -ly to an adjective:

  • soft → softly

  • careful → carefully

  • easy → easily

Some words are the same in both adjective and adverb form (no change in spelling): fast, hard, late, low
Example:

  • He is a hard worker. (adjective)

  • He works hard. (adverb)
