SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Add s to form the 3rd person singular of most verbs. Add es instead of s in the following cases:
a. when the verb ends in o
go—goes do—does
b. when the verb ends in s, sh, ch, x, or z
reach—reaches wash—washes fix—fixes
c. when the verb ends in y [first the y is changed to i before adding es if the y is preceded by a consonant]
study—studies cry—cries marry—marries

A. Give the correct form of the present tense for the verb in parentheses.
- I (read) a book on Fridays. (I read a book on Fridays.)
- She (fix) her bike every weekend.
- He (kick) the ball during the game.
- It (buzz) loudly in the garden.
- We (tell) many stories to each other.
- They (rush) to work in the mornings.
- You (present) the project to your team.
- The cat (scratch) the furniture when it’s alone.
- The teacher (teach) English at the school.
- The baby (cry) when it’s hungry.
B. Change the subject in each of the following sentences from I to He. Use the correct form of the verb.
- I enjoy reading books every day. (He enjoys reading books every day.)
- I walk the dog every morning.
- I learn many things in school.
- I bake cookies for the family.
- I like the sounds of birds.
- I study French at a language school.
- I visit the library twice a week.
- I call the boss every Sunday.

C. Change the subject of each sentence in Exercise B to They. Use the correct form of the verb.
